Rains Come As Blessing, Air Quality In Many UP Cities Sees Improvement

Lucknow, Nov 17 (TNA) Hit by unprecedented air pollution and poor air quality, many cities in Uttar Pradesh have something to cheer up as the recent rains has brought down the air pollution by a certain level. Official said that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Agra and Baghpat, has come at a moderate level following the downpour.

Similarly the AQI in Lucknow has also improved significantly. This time, firecrackers were banned in all major cities of Uttar Pradesh but the ban went up the smoke, literally! Added to this the burning of crop stubble by farmers in western UP and fast-paced construction in many parts of the state, hit the air hard.

On Sunday, 441 was reached in Noida, 448 in Ghaziabad, 427 in Bulandshahr, 396 in Hapur, 373 in Meerut, 344 in Kanpur, 372 in Lucknow. Last year, Diwali was on 27 October. On Diwali, the air of the cities of Uttar Pradesh included in NCR as well as other cities of the state became poisonous. Despite the lakhs restrictions, the situation about air pollution more or less last year also appeared this time on Diwali.
