Proud Moment For UP, Varanasi Girl Shivangi Singh To Fly Rafale As A Pilot

LUCKNOW || Wednesday brought happy news for Uttar Pradesh as a Varanasi girl has been recruited as a pilot of the Rafale. According to information available, Shivangi Singh, has been named by the Indian Air Force (IAF) as one of the fighter pilots for the much-hyped fighter planes. She grew up in Varanasi and has now got the privilege of becoming the first female fighter pilot of the IAF.

She was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 2017 as part of the second batch of women fighter pilots. Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh, a native of Varanasi district, is currently undergoing training and would soon join the 17 Squadron Golden Arrow in Ambala.

After joining the Indian Air Force in the year 2017, Shivangi Singh is flying a MiG-21 Bison as of now. She has also been in Ambala with Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, one of the best fighter pilots in India.

Shivangi underwent training in BHU's NCC from 2013 to 2016 and did his BSc from Sunbeam Bhagwanpur. Shivangi's mother Seema Singh is a homemaker and brother Mayank is a student of 12th in Banaras. Her father runs a transport business.

Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh, was part of the 7 UP Air Squadron in the National Cadet Corps at BHU.
