Propaganda That BSP Is BJP’s B-Team, En Masse Voting By Muslims For SP Led To Our Rout: Mayawati

Lucknow, March 11 (TNA) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday told her workers and supporters not to “break down” at the humiliating defeat in the just concluded state assembly elections. At a presser in the state capital, the four-time chief minister exhorted her partymen not to be dejected but rather take the right lessons from the poll outcome.

BSP won just one seat of the 403 seats it contested, which is its worst ever performance in the state. The BSP had won 19 seats in the last elections and has been out of power since 2007. She also said that the results were not to her expectations.

“We do not have to lose hope but rather continue with our struggle against oppression and for the welfare of the weaker sections” the Dalit leader added. She also blamed the “casteist media, sponsored and managed survey agencies” for the loss of her party.

Mayawati also accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) of drumming up propoganda that BSP was the B-team of the BSP, whereas the truth was just opposite that the BSP was not only electorally but also ideologically opposed to the BJP. She also alleged that due to this false propoganda, teh Muslims voted en masse to the SP and thereby facilitating the return of the BJP to power.
