PM Modi To Inaugurate Construction Work Of Agra Metro Rail Project Tomorrow

Agra, December 6 (TNA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the construction of Agra Metro Project on Monday at 11:30 am via video conferencing. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs will grace the occasion with their esteemed presence at 15 Battalion PAC parade ground in Agra, an official said.

The Agra Metro project comprises 2 corridors with a total length of 29.4 km. The first corridor of the Agra Metro Project from ‘Taj East Gate to Sikandara’ is 14 km long and comprises of 13 Metro stations with an elevated section of 6.4 km and an underground section of 7.6 km. The 13 metro stations will be - Taj East Gate, Basai, Fatehabad Road, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Jama Masjid, Medical College, Agra College, Raja ki Mandi, RBS College, Shastri Nagar, Guru ka Taal & Sikandra.

The construction work of ‘Priority Corridor’ under Corridor-1 of 6 km stretch from ‘Taj East gate to Jama Masjid’ having 3 elevated stations (Taj East Gate, Basai & Fatehabad Road) & 3 underground stations (Taj Mahal, Agra Fort & Jama Masjid) will commence first.

The second corridor comprises a fully elevated Metro corridor from ‘Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar’ covering a length of 15.4 km having 14 Metro stations. The stations of second corridor will be Agra Cantonment, Sadar Bazar, Collectorate, Subhash Park, Agra College, Hari Parvat Chauraha, Sanjay Place, MG Road, Sultanganj Crossing, Kamla Nagar, Ram Bagh, Foundary Nagar, Agra Mandi & Kalindi Vihar.

Being the third most populated city of Uttar Pradesh, Agra will surely be benefited by this world class urban mass Rapid transit system.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 8,379.62 crore which will be completed in approximately 5 years and will provide environment friendly Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) to the historical city of Agra. Agra Metro is designed in such a way that it will provide environment friendly, comfortable, hassle free connectivity to 4 major railway stations, bus depots, colleges, schools, offices, residential areas, commercial places, malls and tourist attractions of the city like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Sikandra, etc.
