Other Than Milking Their Votes, Mayawati Has Done Nothing For Brahmins: Rita Bahuguna Joshi
Varanasi, August 2 (TNA) With the crucial Brahmin votes being eyed by all political parties in the state of Uttar Pradesh, a war of words has erupted between parties vying for that space. Days after the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) rolled out meetings for the Brahmins in Ayodhya and other parts of UP, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become restless.
And so it was not surprising that its Prayagraj Lok Sabha MP, Rota Bahuguna Joshi targeted the BSP over its Brahmin outreach on Sunday. In Varanasi, the BJP leader accused BSP supremo Mayawati of milking the Brahmin votes and doing nothing for them in return.
"Brahmins voted for her in large numbers and ensured her victory in the 2007 state assembly polls. What has she done for them in return?" she questioned while interacting with the media. She went on to say the the Dalit leader should explain what has she done to improve the lot of the Brahmins since 2007.
"In fact she has done nothing for even the Dalits, who have been solidly backing her up in the past" Joshi mused. She also charged the four-time-chief minister of selling tickets for a price. "She used to sell tickets earlier too and is even doing so at present" the MP said.
