Modi's Guidance Has Given Global Identity To An Ancient City Like Varanasi: Yogi

CM directs to expedite construction work of the Medical Colleges of Ghazipur and Jaunpur and start the construction of the Chandauli Medical College at the earliest

LUCKNOW || Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ji on Monday said that Varanasi is fast emerging as a hub for Agriculture Export, Silk and Handloom production and Export, Health and Tourism. He also said that the able guidance of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided this ancient city a global identity with a perfect mix of religion and spirituality with modern development.

The multimodal connectivity by Road, Air and Rail has facilitated tourists from all over the world to visit Kashi, the abode of Baba Vishwanath. He said that the record developmental works have taken place in the state during the last over three years but the special interest of the Prime Minister coupled with coordinated efforts of the Center and the state helped unprecedented infrastructure development in Varanasi. He announced to develop the entire Kashi area as a model of development and tourism.      

Reiterating his government's commitment to zero tolerance for corruption, the CM expressed displeasure over delay in the projects due to SIT probe into corruption complaints in 55 construction projects in Ghazipur, 11 in Jaunpur , 8 in Chandauli and 7 in Varanasi. "In case of corruption, the recovery from the guilty will be made in any circumstances.The work should not suffer in any case," he asserted.

The Chief Minister was reviewing the development projects of Varanasi division comprising Varanasi, Chandauli, Jaunpur and Ghazipur .There are 28 on-going projects in the divisionworth over Rs 50 crore each ,out of which 24 in Varanasi alone, 2 in Jaunpur and one each in Chandauli and Ghazipur. The total cost of these projects is Rs 8409.33 crore.

He said that in view of tourism, the heritage signage, Ghat revitalisation and facade improvement of 84 ghats, cultural upliftment of Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Ghats, tourism facilities at Dashashwamedh Ghat and development of market complex are some of the development works undergoing in Varanasi.

The Chief Minister asked to expedite construction work in the medical colleges of Ghazipur and Jaunpur and start the construction of the Chandauli Medical College at the earliest.He also noted that 45 projects under Smart City, Varanasi are being undertaken on a war-footing.

He also asked to speed up Sewer Projects under AMRUT scheme in Varanasi, Jaunpur and Ghazipur. The construction and beautification of parks is being taken under AMRUT scheme as well and 15 parks

The CM said the network of Expressways in the state will give impetus to overall development.The Purvanchal Expressway in Ghazipur will give a new dimension to Eastern UP and the state's infrastructure. Emphasising on the quality of work and maintenance of the timeline of all the projects, he pointed out that any delay in the developmental works unnecessarily escalates the project cost. Every project should be undertaken on a fixed time-line while observing all the quality norms.

He said to achieve timely completion of the projects, it is extremely important toward work to such agencies which have sufficient manpower and capacity to execute the work on time. He said that the utilisation certificate should be made available after completion of 75 per cent of the work so that the remaining funds may be released timely.
