Kanpur SHO Hauled Up By Seniors For Misreporting Dacoity As Minor Theft

Kanpur, Sep 18 (TNA) A police inspector in Kanpur was hauled up by his seniors for registering a theft case in what actually was a daylight dacoity. The matter pertains to a crime committed at a house in Govind Nagar. The matter would have not come to light but for the social media after which senior police officials enquired about the whole case.

Station House Officer Anoop Singh, information suggests, had reported the crime as a small theft and he had been misleading the senior police officials by saying so. Soon ADCP Dr Anil Kumar reached the crime scene and spoke to the lady of the house Asha Gupta. The whole matter became clear and the senior cop gave Singh a dressing down for misreporting the whole crime. The ACP said dacoity has now been registered in the amended FIR.

An explanation has also been sought from the SHO. The dacoity happened at a house near Bhadauria Park in Govind Nagar, house number G-2 on the first floor. Robbers looted the house for over 90 minutes by tying up Asha Gupta. She told the police that the dacoits were three and all aged 30-35. A sketch is now being prepared of the criminals and efforts are on to nab them, a police official informed.
