Fresh COVID Cases Come Down In UP But Lucknow Reports 65 Deaths In 24-Hours

Lucknow, May 6 (TNA) On a day when overall numbers of fresh Coronavirus cases came down across the state to 26780, the number of deaths stood at 353, out of which Lucknow alone contributed 65 fatalities. Kanpur city reported 782 new cases in the last 24-hours and 49 deaths. Varanasi, the Lok Sabha constituency of prime minister Narendra Modi reported 796 new cases and 10 deaths in one single day.

Prayagraj reported 8 deaths, Meerut 12, Gautam Buddh Nagar 13, Ghaziabad 15, Jhansi 12, Jaunpur 5 and Muzaffarnagar has reported a staggering 21 deaths in the last one-day, Hardoi (8), Basti (7). What is worrying the healthcare experts is the fact that deaths are being reported from small II and III-tier towns of the state.

The state government from Wednesday has undertaken a door-to-door campaign in villages to check for Coronavirus. The door-to-door screening and testing of 97 thousand revenue villages of the state has started, a state government spokesman informed.
