LUCKNOW || The drive against mafias initiated by the UP government after express orders from chief minister Yogi Adityanath picked further steam on Friday, a day after the two illegal buildings belonging to mafia don turned politician Mukhtar Ansari were razed to the ground by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA).

Authorities tightened their noose on Atiq Ahmed in Prayagraj where two buildings - a house, and an office allegedly belonging to him, were sealed by the local police. The value of the attached property is said to be Rs 35 crores.

Earlier on Wednesday, the police had sealed 5 properties of Atiq under Gangster Act 14 (1), which were worth 25 crores. The police have sent a report to the DM to take action on Atiq's other benami properties.
