After Nod, Rahul Gandhi Now Not Being Allowed To Step Out Of Lucknow Airport

Lucknow, Oct 6 (TNA) A piquant situation arose on Wednesday evening at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in the state capital when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to go out of the airport premises. This was in contravention to earlier permission given by the state government, which allowed him and three other leaders of the Congress go to Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri.

Mobbed by television journalists, the Gandhi scion pointed to the CISF and otehr local policemen as they tried to physically prevent him to go out to the exit gate of the airport. See, this is the kind of permission UP govt has given us, he said tauntingly.

When asked if he thought the state government had gone back on its words that they will be allowed, the Wayanad MP said he knowns nothing except that he wants to go out of the airport and is not being allowed to.

Gandhi also said that he was not being allowed to use his personal car and accsued the police of “planning something”. He is accompanied by Chattisgarh and Punjab chief ministers. Rahul Gandhi was slated to first go to Sitapur to meet his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who has been under arrest at a makeshift prison and then the duo was to head to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet the famileis of those killed in the Sunday violence.
