LUCKNOW || The slugfest between political leaders over the Rs 2000 crore plus PF scam in the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) got bitter and took a legal hue on Thursday as power minister Srikant Sharma sent a legal notice to Congress’s UP unit president Ajay Kumar Lallu over his remarks on himself.
The cdefamation notice has been sent after Lallu accused the power minister of travelling to Dubai and getting the PF money into dreaded don Dawood Ibrahim’s companies.
The Congress leader in a press interaction, after the PF scam came to light, had alleged that the investment of the UPPCL employees PF funds into DHFL was not only a matter of corruption but also linked to national security. He had also thrown a poser to UP’s power minister on what was the motive behind his September-October 2017 visit to Dubai and whether or not his nod was given in investing the PF money into a shady and defaulter company.
He had also demanded that chief minister Yogi Adityanath immediately dismiss Srikant Sharma for his complicity in the PF scam. The minister had hit back at the UPCC chief for his remarks labelling them as “baseless and far from the truth“. He had even clarified that he had never been on a foreign visit.
The minister had threatened legal action against Lallu if he did not express regret over his false and misleading allegations. “You like your leader Rahul Gandhi are in a habit of levelling baseless charges and it is for this reason he is doing the rounds of courts across the country” he had said.
