UP Police Bust “Fake-Fuel’ Manufacturing Racket In Meerut

MEERUT || The Uttar Pradesh Police have busted a racket of manufacturing of adulterated and fake diesel and petrol in Meerut, officials said. 2.10 lakh litres of fuel was also recovered during the raid after which ten persons involved in the gang were arrested. The ‘oil mafia’ was. Icing thinner, solvents and colour to manufacture fake petrol, diesel and were selling it got Rs 38 per litre.

The fuel was loaded into tankers from here and then routed to major petrol pumps and filling stations across western Uttar Pradesh, an official informed.

The prime accused Rajiv Jain allegedly owns a petrol pump himself. He along with his partner Rajiv Gupta, police said, had license of thinner and chemicals and in that garb used to manufacture spurious fuel.

They, it is said, were running this business for more than a decade. Sources say there are about ten petrol pumps in the Meerut city which were being supplied this fake fuel for the past many years.
