LUCKNOW || With growing inconvenience to Metro rail movement in the city owing to kites flown using metallic thread/ wire and Chinese Manjha, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has appealed to the people of Lucknow not to resort to kite flying near the operational Metro Corridor.
Recently a day or two back, an instance of such disruption was reported when on 12th March metallic wire damaged the Over Head Equipment (OHE) in the section between Vishwavidyalaya to IT College in the early hours of the evening.
In a quick response taking precautionary measures, the Metro movement was brought back to normalcy. Not just from the Metro point of view, such incidents can prove fatal for the kite flyers and can cause casualty through electrocution. The manjha with metallic content often leads to greater electricity conduction endangering the kite flier. This because the person comes in contact with the very high voltage of 25000 Volts.
Meanwhile adding weight to this very important drive by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, local shopkeepers have been asked to create awareness and educate the buyers to not fly kites near the metro corridor stretching across CCS Airport to Munshipulia.
These awareness drives are a regular feature to spread the word about the cons of flying kites near the metro corridor on a regular basis to ensure public safety and convenience along with the prevention of loss to metro property.
Several instances of OHE tripping have occurred in past, resulting in disruption of metro services and causing damage to public property. An investigation has exposed the presence of metal threads entangled with the OHE.
