LUCKNOW || Curtains came down on the hostage crisis in Uttar Pradesh’s Farukkhabad district in the early hours of Friday as the Police shot dead the criminal Subhash Batham and rescued all the 23 kids held by him, officials said. Batham was shot dead by the police team as they barged into the house.
Accused of a murder in 2001, Batham had called the kids to his house on the pretext of his daughters birthday and then held them inside. When parents went to his house to bring back their kids they were shooed away. Police was informed and when they reached the crime scene they were fired upon, injuring three policemen.
He also lobbed a crude bomb on the police teams. Senior police officials told media persons outside the residence of the chief minister in Delhi that the man had been shot and the rescue mission completed successfully. Unfortunately, villagers, angry at the hostage situation, lynched Batham’s wife, She died at a hospital where she was rushed by policemen after being thrashed by locals.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a Rs 10 lakh reward for the police team that rescued the children.
