LUCKNOW || The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday evening constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe many facets of the gangster Vikas Dubey, who was gunned down by the Special Task Force (STF) of the UP Police on Friday near Kanpur. The SIT will be headed by senior IAS and additional chief secretary Sanjay Bhoosreddy.
Other members of the SIT are ADG Hari Ram Sharma and deputy inspector general of police (DIG) J Ravindra Gaur. This SIT, a senior government official said, will look into various aspects of the Vikas Dubey case such as what action was taken against the gangster in the long list of cases that were slapped on him, whether or not the action taken in the past against his gang members was enough, why was no action taken to revoke his bail earlier among other things.
The SIT will also look into the complaints that were received by the Chaubeypur police station and whether or not the police officials too cognisance of them and initiated action, whether an action was taken against the Vikas Dubey gang under stringent laws like the Gangster Act, Goonda Act, NSA etc, an official further said.
The special probe will also cover the call detail records (CDR) of the criminal of the past one year and to recommend stringent action against errant police officials, if any proofs of their complicity were found. A detailed destiny of the number of weapons held by Vikas Dubey and his accomplices, their licenses would also be done.
