LUCKNOW || The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress attacked the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state accusing it of fudging statistics on Coronavirus cases and also of promoting hatred between communities and castes.
Addressing a press conference, senior party leader PL Punia said that the state government was not only dishing out false, fake and fabricated data on COVID-19 but was also whipping up passions against the backward and Dalit castes. Punia, a retired bureaucrat and currently the party in-charge of Chattisgarh, went on to accuse the BJP government of vendetta politics.
Pointing out how their state unit president Ajay Kumar ‘Lallu’ had been put behind bars for no reason or simply because he was working hard to help the poor and the marginalised among the Corona crisis, he along with Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Aradhana Misra ‘Mona’ said no visitors were allowed to me the UPCC president and that such atrocities against their leader would not be tolerated.
Punia pointed out that in a recent interview with a News Agency, the chief minister and blamed people coming back from Maharashtra and Delhi for spreading the Coronavirus. This, he added, was clearly inciting people against these migrant labourers, of which most were from the backward castes and Dalits.
