LUCKNOW || The office of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister receives anywhere between 2-3,000 letters on a daily basis, an official has revealed. This came to light in response to an RTI filed by Lucknow-based activist Nutan Thakur by Vasant Kumar Tiwari, PIO of Chief Minister Office.
Section-2 of CM office receives these letters and delivers them to the concerned places after opening the envelopes. Due to a very large number of letters, it is not practical to register them and no mechanism has been developed for registration of these letters, it was informed.
After PIO of CM office refusing to acknowledge receipt of the RTI applications sent through registered post, Nutan had presented her complaint before the State Information Commission, to which Tiwari has sent his reply.
As per Nutan, it is truly worrisome that the letters sent by the public are not even registered by the CM office. She has asked for an immediate end of this dismal situation.
