LUCKNOW || In what seems to be history in making, the Uttar Pradesh state assembly will sit for a continuous 48-hours to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi this year. A decision to this effect was taken by leaders of all political parties at a meeting presided over by assembly speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit.
Attended among others by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, on whose suggestion, this move was deliberated upon, it was decided that the House sit for a continuous period of 48-hours.
After the meeting, parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Khanna said that the meeting had been called at the suggestion of the chief minister. He further said that the United Nations had in 2015 set a 17-point charter for development and that India was a signatory to it. The lawmakers during this session would deliberate on these points and take it forward, the minister further added.
The MLA’s and MLC’s would also discuss what needs to be done to pull out the poor from poverty while the government will inform them of the measures taken in this direction.
