LUCKNOW || Workers of the Samajwadi Party (SP) were cane charged by the police in the state capital on Thursday as they hot the streets to protest against the spike in fuel prices. As the workers began approaching the Vidhan Sabha, police posse deployed at that point tried to stop them by putting up barricades.
However the SP workers seemingly ere in no mood to stop. When they did not heed to the police warnings and broke the security cordon, the police cane charged them. Many were injured in the melee. The party blasted the Lucknow police for using force on hapless, peacefully demonstrating party workers.
Leaders also vowed not to stop their agitation till the fuel price hike is rolled back. They also said that protests will now be from the streets to the state assembly. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress have already protested the price hike of diesel and petrol prices.
