Slammed Over Soaring Crimes, Yogi Suspends Four Kanpur Cops

LUCKNOW || On the receiving end of the political firepower of the opposition parties and public outcry on spiralling crimes in the state, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday cracked the whip and four officials in the city of Kanpur were suspended.

This action followed the killing of a 27-year-old, who was kidnapped and payment of a ransom of Rs 30 lakh was overseen by the police.

An angry chief minister, sources said, was livid at the development, and the home department officials to suspend the calls officers.

Soon after, an IPS officer Aparna Gupta, the then circle officer Manoj Gupta were given the marching orders. Barra police station boss Ranjeet Rai and Chowki In-charge Rajesh Kumar have also been suspended. ADG (PHQ) BP Jogdand has been asked to rush to Kanpur and immediate probe the whole incident and submit a report to the government at the earliest.
