LUCKNOW || The Allahabad High Court (HC) on Wednesday took sum motto notice of the killing of an undertrial in Bijnor court room on Tuesday. A special bench of Justice Suneet Kumar and Justice Sudhir Agarwal have summoned the principal secretary (home) Avaneesh Kumar Awasthi and the director-general of police (DGP), OP Singh, on December 20 and brief the court about the incident.
The HC has also directed these top officials to explain to it a security blueprint it has to make the courts in the state more secure and safe.
Rapping the state government machinery, the HC also said that they should also let the court know if they are not in a position to do so and whether central security agencies need to be posted in UP’s district and other courts for safety.
An undertrial Shahnawaaz was killed by three assailants in the Bijnor Chief judicial magistrates court where he had come for an appearance in a murder case. A court employee and a constable of the Delhi Police had also been injured in the shootout. Police have since suspended the Court police Chowki in-charge.
