Shirdi To Be ‘Indefinitely Closed’ From Sunday In Protest

SHIRDI || In an unprecedented move, the Shirdi Sai Sansthan – the Trust that runs the famous Sai Baba temple in Ahmadnagar of Maharashtra, has announced that the temple town will be indefinitely closed from Sunday.

This, an official said, was being done in protest of Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray giving Rs 100 crore for development of Pathri, saying it was the birth place of the venerated seer.

Thackeray reportedly said Pathri in Parbhani is Sai Baba’s birthplace.”We have announced to close Shirdi against rumours from January 19,” said B Wakchaure of Saibaba Sansthan Trust. “A meeting of villagers will be convened Saturday evening to discuss the issue. Devotees will not face any difficulty if they come to Shirdi,” Wakchaure added.

People belonging to the Trust said never had Baba announced his birthplace and was above all these petty things. Even in the ‘Sai Sacharitra’ it has no where been mentioned that the great Fakeer, revered by millions, was born in Pathri or for that matter anywhere else.
