Shahjahan, Mumtaz Tombs Getting New Sheen As Trump Heads To Agra

AGRA || As India plays host to US President, Donald Trump, in days from now, a grand reception and a string of events will happen. When it comes to Agra, the Taj Mahal will be a spectacle to behold as it is being spruced up for the visit of Trump.

As preparations pick steam, work is on to ensure that Taj Mahal appears spotless white. For this, cleanliness has been started in a special way. Trump will arrive at Agra and visit the Taj Mahal on the evening of 24 February.

In view of the visit of the US President, the graves of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz are being cleaned for the first time through mudpack treatment.

The cleaning of the tomb has started for the first time in 368 years since the construction of Taj Mahal when ASI has started cleaning work with mudpack treatment by applying Multani soil to the tombs. The work of cleaning the tombs has been started under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). All the work of mudpack and chemical treatment will be completed by February 22 before the US President arrives.

Reportedly the lights over these tombs will also be removed and brightened by chemical treatment. These lights were presented to the graves in the monument by Lord Curzon in 1908. These special lights designed for the graves were modelled on a mosque built in Cairo, Egypt.

On February 24, Donald Trump’s special aircraft will first land in Ahmedabad and on the same day in the evening, the American President will reach Agra from Ahmedabad. The city is being decorated.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath himself is inspecting the preparations. In view of Trump’s visit to Agra, the Agra Police and Intelligence agencies are on high alert. Security preparations have been reviewed by a joint team of US President advanced security team and Agra Police.
