UNNAO || As many as seven persons were burnt alive in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh late on Sunday night when the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a truck and turned into a ball of fire, police said. The mishap took place near the Bangarmau cut on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway.
The tyre of the ill-fated van burst and the driver lost control and the van hit into a truck with a loud bang. The van was running on CNG and in no time the fire reached the gas cylinder and the car burst into massive flames.
All the seven sitting inside the van were charred to death. The truck’s driver and cleaner fled the crime scene, leaving the persons caught in the fire, to die.
Later three fire tenders were rushed to douse the fire but by then all the seven had died. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has mourned the loss of lives.
