LUCKNOW || Media fraternity in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow was plunged into sorrow on Saturday as the news of the demise of senior journalist Arvind Shukla was broken to them. The 57-year-old scribe, associated with Sputnik newspaper, was in Raipur to attend an event where he died of cardiac arrest, family sources said.
A suave and simpleton by heart Shukla had undergone a bypass surgery a few years back but was in good spirits till two days ago and there were no signs that he would meet an untimely end.
His wife Geeta Shukla is also a journalist and she along with her two daughters were with the scribe when he passed away.
His body is being airlifted to Lucknow late on Saturday and would be kept at his Sapru Marg ancestral home for his friends, well wishers, colleagues and relatives to pay their last respects. His younger brother had also passed away a few years back at a young age. His mother was a principal at a private college.
He will be cremated at Bhainsakund on Sunday at 12 noon. The UP State Accredited Committee has mourned his demise and has convened a condolence meeting at the Annexe Media Center on Monday evening.
