LUCKNOW || A senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Murari Lal Jain was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The news of his death sent shock waves in the Uttar Pradesh unit of the AAP, also because he was returning to his home after a state-level meeting of the party in the state capital.
He was a co-in-charge of the party activities in the politically crucial state of UP. His body was found under a 70-feet high railway bridge over a river, 15-km ahead of Lalitpur.
He had taken Pushpak Express in IInd AC and had to get down at Lalitpur. A known RTI activist, social worker, he had been involved in unearthing many scandals in the region and was at the forefront in AAP’s mission against graft in the state.
AAP leaders say the circumstances point fingers at murder and a deep-rooted conspiracy to eliminate the top leadership of the party, especially after its resounding victory and return to power recently in Delhi. Chief Spokesman of the party in UP, Vaibhav Maheshwari told The News Agency that the passing away of Jain was a big jolt to the party. “We were sitting just next to each other in the party meet just a day back“, he informed.
He also said that the party was waiting for more details to emerge and for the autopsy report to come and only after that it would decide the future course of action.
