AYODHYA || Priests at the makeshift Ram Lalla temple in Ayodhya got a pay hike on Monday, an official of the Uttar Pradesh government said. The chief priest of the temple Acharya Satyendra Das had recently met the divisional commissioner and urged him to look into their long-pending demand for a wage hike.
Commissioner Manoj Mishra had assured them that the state government will look into the matter raised by them. The state government has decided to increase the salary of the chief priest by Rs 1000 per month and the monthly salary of other priests by Rs 500.
This would mean that Das would now draw a salary of Rs 13,000 per month while the other priests whose salaries vary between Rs 7500-10,000 will be increased by Rs 500.
The head under which other expenses are incurred has also been increased from Rs 26,200 to Rs 30,000 per month while Ram Lalla will be given Rs 1000 daily as His personal expenses of ‘bhog’, clothes and other daily routine things.
