Polio Vaccine Staff Mistook To Be Doing NPR Survey In Meerut, Attacked

MEERUT || A team of the Uttar Pradesh health department undertaking a polio vaccination drive at a Meerut village were attacked by locals on Sunday as they mistook them to be people doing a survey about the National Population register (NPR), police said.

As soon as the team members asked people about details of their children, they were slapped and misbehaved with, chief medical officer of Meerut Dr Raj Kumar told media persons.

They were beaten up, intimated and shooed out of the village,” the health official said. A police team rushed to the crime scene to rescue them. A police case has been registered and an investigation is on.
