KANPUR || One of the prime accused in the infamous Bikru case of Kanpur – Shashikant aka Sonu, where eight Uttar Pradesh police personnel, including a deputy SP, were killed by Vikas Dubey and his gang, has been arrested, ADG (Law & Order) Prashant Kumar informed the media on Tuesday.
The high-ranking official also disclosed that based on the information provided by the criminal, the police weapons – an INSAS rifle and an AK-47, robbed by the gangsters have also been recovered.
With the latest arrest, four of the 21 gang members involved in the killings of policemen have been apprehended.
11 accused are still at large while six named criminals have been killed by the police in different encounters. The prime accused Vikas Dubey was arrested on Thursday from the famous Mahakal temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, and was killed in a police ‘encounter’ when he allegedly tried to snatch a weapon of the policeman escorting him and fled the vehicle which met with an accident.
