Police Crackdown On AAP In Lucknow, Several Leaders-Workers Detained

LUCKNOW || Several activists and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were picked up by the Lucknow police in the state capital on Tuesday. While there was no immediate provocation by the AAP, police say they had taken the action as section 144 was in place and the party workers were violating the prohibitory orders.

State spokesman of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Vaibhav Maheshwari told The News Agency that he finds the crackdown both anti-democratic and illegal. According to information, party workers and leaders were picked up by the police from their office near the Burlington Hotel roundabout and stuffed into a bus and have been taken to an undisclosed location. The AAP ha on Monday announced statewide protests against the cane charge on students at various central and state varsities and educational institutions.
