Police Book 150 For CAA Protests, Breaching Prohibitory orders

LUCKNOW || The district police in Aligarh has lodged first information reports (FIR’s) against 150 unknown people for taking part in protests and demonstrations against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Of those booked for violation of prohibitory orders, clamped under section 144 of the IPC, are students from the Jamia Milia Islamia University and local Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Thes people were involved in protests at the Shah Jamal area in the city on Thursday. There have been widespread protests across the state of Uttar Pradesh against CAA. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath had warned people not to cross the protest line and raise anti-India slogans.

He said anything against the interests of the country will be dealt with an iron hand. Amit Shah, the union home minister at a recent rally in Lucknow also said that there was no way that the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the centre will roll back CAA and said protests may continue but nothing that is anti-national will be tolerated.
