LUCKNOW || Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the statue of BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the state capital on Wednesday, a government official informed on Tuesday. The 25-feet bronze statue of the former prime minister has been installed at the Lok Bhawan – the seat of power in front of the sprawling state assembly building.
It is being unveiled on the birth anniversary of the late leader, who passed away at the AIIMS in New Delhi on August 16, 2018, after prolonged illness and absence from public life. Vajpayee, a poet hearted politician served three terms as the Prime Minister of India.
His first term lasted for 13 days in 1996, then for a period of 13 months from 1998 to 1999, and finally, for a full term from 1999 to 2004. PM Modi will arrive in a special Indian Air Force (IAF) plane at the Chowdhary Charan Singh International Airport at Amausi at around 2:30 pm and will go back to Delhi at 5 pm.
He will take a chopper from the airport to the La Marts ground from where he will drive to the Lok Bhawan in a heavily guarded motorcade. The state government has made elaborate arrangements for the high-profile visit and vigil has been stepped up, especially due to the recent violent protests in the state capital over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
