NEW DELHI || Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be kickstarting the election campaign for the Haryana state assembly elections on September 8, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman informed on Friday. His first election rally would be held at Rohtak, which would also be attended by Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
More than three lakh booth workers and ‘panna pramukhs’ from 20,000 polling booths spread across the state would also be taking part in the ‘Vijay Sankalp’ rally.
In 2014, the BJP had stormed to power on its own, creating a record of sorts. Of the elected lawmakers in the Haryana state assembly in 2014, 77 were men and 13 women legislators.
Of the 90 assembly seats, the BJP had won 47 seats. The then ruling party – Congress managed to win only 15 seats, while the INLD had won 19.
