LUCKNOW || For a state government that vouches ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas’ seems to have been exposed by a query under the Right to Information (RTI). As per the information provided by Lucknow police to activist Nutan Thakur, in November 2019, out of 43 officers in charge of Lucknow police stations, 12 are Kshatriya, 13 Brahmins, 08 Other Backward Castes (OBCs), 09 Scheduled Castes (SCs) and 01 General Muslim.
Thus, 60 % of total SHOs are either Kshatriya or Brahmin. Among OBCs, there is no Yadav SHO, while there are only 02 Muslim SHOs. There is only 01 woman SHO, Sharda Chaudhari, posted at Mahila police station.
As per the RTI activist she now hopes that things will change with the implementation of the police commissioner system in the state capital and Noida. “The new Police Commissioner has given special emphasis on women crime and women policing, hence it is expected that the number of women SHOs would increase massively,” she said.
