Noida-Ghaziabad Chokes As Smog Blankets National Capital Region

NOIDA || The air quality in Noida and Ghaziabad neighbouring the union capital of New Delhi turned severe on Wednesday morning as a thick haze engulfed the national capital region (NCR). The air quality, officials told The News Agency, has deteriorated alarmingly with the onset of winters and drop in mercury.

Air Quality Index (AQI) in Sector 125 is at 466 was 469 in the morning while in sector 116 it was 473 and in Sector 1 at 481 – all in a severe category and alarmingly high.

A layer of thick, muddy smog also blanketed the sky in Ghaziabad this morning. Air Quality Index (AQI) in Indirapuram area is at 465, Loni at 475, Sanjay Nagar at 469 and Vasundhara at 479 – all in ‘Severe’ category.

The air quality in Greater Noida too continued to be equally poor with air quality index (AQI) at 458 (severe) in Knowledge Park-III area.
