BANDA || Nine persons were killed and more than two dozen seriously injured in Banda on Monday after a bus collided with a truck, police said. Officials fear that the death toll could rise further as many of the injured were in critical condition.
The mishap took place at the Banda-Tanda highway near Saimari village. The bus belonged to the state owned UPSRTC and was going from Banda to Fatehpur. The bus was turned into mangled steel due to the impact of the collision. SP Banda, Ganesh Prasad Saha has confirmed the death of nine persons.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has condoled the loss of lives in the road accident and has announced a financial compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. He also directed district officials to ensure that proper and prompt treatment was given to the injured.
