NHRC Seeks UP DGP’s Reply On Vikas Dubey’s Police Encounter

LUCKNOW || The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought a reply from the Uttar Pradesh DGP HC Awasthi, with regards to the police encounter of hardened criminal Vikas Dubey, the prime accused in the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur.

On a complaint sent by Lucknow-based activist Nutan Thakur, about ” alleged illegalities of UP Police” the human rights panel has given six weeks to the UP top cop to respond.

The NHRC has set September 2, 2020, as the next date of hearing. Thakur had complained about the killing of Vikas, his maternal uncle Prem Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey in the village, killings of Vikas aide Prabhat Mishra and Praveen Dubey and that of Vikas in heavy police presence, demolition of his house without legal order and behaviour with his wife and child, seeking an enquiry into these allegations.
