NEW DELHI || Rich tributes were paid to the late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 75th birth anniversary on Tuesday. Many dignitaries, including his widow and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and children Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi visited his memorial – Veer Bhumi and paid floral tributes to the late leader.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted a one-line tribute to Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary.
Former president of India Pranab Mukherjee, former vice-president Hamid Ansari and many other leaders of the Congress also visited the memorial to pay tributes to the late prime minister, who was killed by a human suicide bomber of the LTTE in Tamil Nadu on May 21, 1991.
Congress is observing it, as the ‘Sadbhavna Diwas’ across the country, with special events like fruit distribution, blood donation et al taking place in memory of Rajiv Gandhi.
