LUCKNOW || The 81st birthday of the Samajwadi Party (SP) founder Mulayam Singh Yadav is being celebrated by party workers across the state of Uttar Pradesh on Friday. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav wished the Yadav patriarch on his birthday and prayed for his good health and long life.
Many posters, banners and hoardings have been put up in the state capital on the occasion. Mulayam’s younger brother Shivpal Singh Yadav’s party – the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (PSP) has also put up some hoardings to mark the 81st birthday of the three-time UP chief minister. Shivpal parted ways with the SP after his estranged nephew Akhilesh Yadav engaged with him a bitter power tussle.
The wrestler-turned-politician has been out of public glare for some time now due to his poor health. He has been sidelined in the very same party he found by his own son since December 2016. The Yadav chieftain has thousands of followers and party workers, peers consider him one of the finest political brains in the Hindi heartland.
Earlier Mulayam’s birthday was celebrated with much pomp and show with a kavi sammelan and other things but now everything is low profile.
His friend and eminent poet Gopal Das Neeraj used to be the star of these evenings but now that he is no more, the kavi sammelan’s have also come to an end. Sources in the family said that family members, friends, political co-workers called on Mulayam on his birthday and wished him a long and healthy life.
