Moroccan King Orders Repatriation Of Citizens From Coronavirus Hit Wuhan

RABAT || His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco on Monday chaired a high-level meeting with his officials at the Royal Palace in Rabat to take stock of the situation arising in Wuhan province of China after the outbreak of the dreaded Novel Coronavirus.

His officials briefed him on the situation of the Moroccan citizens in the Chinese province, which has since been quarantined by the Chinese authorities for fear of the virus spreading elsewhere. The King gave instruction to government officials for the repatriation of the hundred Moroccan nationals, mainly students, currently in the Chinese province.

The Sovereign also ordered that the necessary measures be taken in terms of air transport, appropriate airports and specific health infrastructure.

The King also ordered the Head of Government and the different officials, each in his field of competence, to ensure adequate monitoring and coordination.

This working session was attended by Head of Government Saad Dine El Otmani, Advisor to HM the King Fouad Ali El Himma, Minister of the Interior Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad Nasser Bourita, Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb and Lieutenant General Mohamed Haramou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie.
