NEW DELHI || Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led the nation on Tuesday in paying glowing tributes to former prime minister Indira Gandhi, on her birth anniversary. Indira Gandhi was noon on November 19, 1917, and went on to become India’s first and only woman prime minister so far.
“Tributes to our former PM Smt. Indira Gandhi Ji on her birth anniversary”, the Prime Minister said in a Tweet. Congress working president Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, former president Pranab Mukherjee were among the top leaders who visited the Shakti Sthal in New Delhi where Indira Gandhi was cremated in 1984 after being shot dead by her own body guards.
Functions are being held in other parts of the country to remember the former prime minister, who may hold, was the most powerful leader of India.
