Modi Arrives In Kolkata, To Take Stock Of Amphan Devastation

KOLKATA || Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in West Bengal on Friday morning and was received at the airport by the governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, chief minister Mamata Banerjee and other top officials at the Kolkata airport.

He is in the coastal state to assess the damage caused by the cyclone Amphan, which ravaged many parts of West Bengal and also affected neighbouring Odisha, which is also in the schedule of the prime minister.

Cyclone Amphan which is said to be the worst in 283 years has caused widespread damage and has killed at least 72 people. Modi is scheduled to fly in an Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper to take an aerial survey of the devastation the cyclone has left behind.
