LUCKNOW || In a significant political development, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Tuesday demanded a roll back of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Taking to Twitter, BSP supremo Mayawati said that the controversial legislation was “an unconstitutional law“.
She further raised the demand that the Narendra Modi led NDA government at the centre immediately take back the law, which had triggered violence in some parts of the country, especially educational campuses. “I demand that the government take back the law or else there would be negative consequences in the future“, the four-time Uttar Pradesh chief minister underlined.
She also slammed the BJP government for the heavy crackdown on protestors saying it reminded of the Emergency days imposed by the Congress in the ’70s. “They should not create an emergency like circumstances, like Congress did earlier” the Dalit leader further said.
Her party MP’s in Rajya Sabha has walked out when voting was been done on the CAB, this facilitating the easy passage of the controversial legislation.
