Massive Security Deployment In UP Over Proposed CAA Protests

LUCKNOW || The state capital was turned into a fortress on Thursday morning ahead of the proposed demonstrations and protests planned by social groups, students and some political parties against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). 62 persons have been placed under preventive arrests while over 3,000 people have been sent notices and asked not to indulge in any unlawful activity, an official said.

Director-General of Police (DGP) OP Singh has taken charge to ensure that the state remained peaceful during the proposed statewide protests also took a round of the state capital, interacted with officials of the police and asked them to ensure that no protests took place and that no public, commuters were disturbed.

Heavy police deployment has been seen around the Lucknow University, where intelligence department has given inputs of participation by students in the proposed protest. DGP himself has urged parents to ensure that their wards don’t come out on the roads and participate in activities detrimental to them. Schools, colleges have been asked to keep a vigil on students and also to counsel children.
