Major Indian Ports Suggested Precautions Against Corona Virus

NEW DELHI || The union ministry of shipping has issues directives to all major ports as a preventive measure against Corona Virus, an official said on Saturday. With reference to the outbreak of Corona Virus in China, the Ministry of Shipping has issued necessary directions to Major Port, it was further informed.

Major Ports have been asked to place a screening, detection and quarantine system in place immediately for disembarking Seafarers or Cruise Passengers and to ensure that they obtain self-declaration from arriving crews/passengers. The officials at ports have also been directed to install thermal scanners and procure N-95 masks.

To create awareness about Corona virus among the travellers at Ports and Port officials have been asked to sensitive people, step up the disease surveillance, screen the vessel, crew, passengers, issue advisory for all stakeholders, install thermal scanners during exit from Port Prohibited Area, make Isolation wards at Port Hospital Premises, ensure throat swab collection by district authorities in case of suspicion of a patient.
