Lockdown In UP, Major Religious Shrines Also Closed Voluntarily

LUCKNOW || With a two-day complete lockdown imposed in Uttar Pradesh for the next two days, owing to the growing cases of Coronavirus, life came to a standstill in many parts of the state on Saturday. The UP government had ordered the lockdown late on Friday, citing the increase in the number of COVID cases.

While the government had clarified that essential commodity items and religious places would remain at a definite time, shopkeepers in many parts of the state capital and elsewhere too have chosen to voluntarily close shops during the weekend.

Information from Avanish Kumar Awasthi, additional chief secretary (Home) on Friday had clarified that all religious places shall remain exempt from this lockdown but many temples have decided to shut down for the next two days.
