MUMBAI || Tragedy struck the Bollywood yet again on Friday as ace choreographer Saroj Khan passed away at a Bandra hospital after a massive heart attack. She was admitted to the Guru Nanak Hospital on June 17 after several complications owing to diabetes. Many good actors like Sushant Singh Rajput, Irrfan Khan and Rshi Kapoor have passed away in the past few months and the industry is yet reeling under their loss.
She had been breathless at the time of her admission to the medical facility but had tested negative for the Coronavirus. She was 72 and is survived by her husband B Sohanlal, son Hamid Khan and daughters Hina Khan and Sukyna Khan.
Saroj Khan had begun working as a background dancer at the tender age of three. She went on to become one of the most sought after dance masters of the Hindi film industry Ince the 70’s when she debuted as an independent choreographer with Geeta Mera Naam.
The three-time National Award winner choreographed more than 2000 songs, including iconic numbers such as Hawa Hawai from Mr India (1987), Ek Do Teen from Tezaab (1988), Dhak Dhak Karne Laga from Beta (1992) and Dola Re Dola from Devdas (2002). Her last was in Kalank when she choreographed her favourite Madhuri Dixit.
