LUCKNOW || A lawyer in the state capital of Lucknow was shot dead on Wednesday. Police are of the view that the killing took place due to a simmering animosity between the deceased and the assailants. Father of the deceased lawyer, however, has alleged that he had complained to the police about the sale of drugs in the area and his son was killed because of this only.
One of the accused Vinayak Thakur has been arrested by the police. Angry at the murder of their colleague, lawyers struck work at the Collectorate and kept the body in protest.
Taking note of the crime, inspector Krishnanagar, Pradeep Kumar Singh has been suspended by the SSP of Lucknow. The deceased has been identified as Shishir Tripathi (32). Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the UP government over the lawyer’s murder and said law and order have hit its lowest in the state.
Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (PSP) president Shivpal Singh Yadav also visited the collectorate and expressed his condolences at the killing of Tripathi. He also expressed his concern over the poor law and order in the state.
