NEW DELHI || The union capital on Sunday woke up to massive tragedy as more than 35 persons are reported to have died in an inferno at the Anaj Mandi at the Rani Jhansi road. More than two dozen fire tenders have been deployed to douse the fire which has spread in that entire area.
Officials inform that a call about the fire was received by the Fire Office at around 5:20 am after which immediate help in form of fire tenders was rushed to the scene of the incident. But by the time the leaping fire could be contained, more than three dozen people had perished.
While many deaths have taken place due to fire injuries, many others were choked by the toxic fumes of the smoke. Police has also ordered a probe on how was this factory operating with a labour force of more than 50 in a residential area.
