Indian Government Bans 59 Chinese Mobile Apps Including TikTok

LUCKNOW || In a move that seems to be a big retaliation for the misadventures of neighbouring China, the Narendra Modi led Indian government on Monday blocked 59 mobile apps with Chinese links. The banned list includes the hugely popular apps like TikTok, UC Browser and WeChat.

A statement from the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology said that the apps were blocked “in view of the information available they are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order“.

The statement from the Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology said it had received an “exhaustive recommendation” from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
